Last week I hit the Guggenheim in NYC for its First Friday event. Alex Moulton was the DJ. He had a pioneer mixer (with effects) plugged into his laptop and a midi of some sort. No turntables or CDjs to speak of. Here's my question for the peoples: When the physical element of spinning is absent is it still deejaying? Just curious how my fellow DJs feel on this point. In reference, check out this interview with Just Blaze for his opinion on Serato and the usage of technology. Oh yeah, Moulton played some gentle ambient music. It was fine to chill to but at times it sounded like, as Prodigy would say, "Some crazy space shit that don't make no sense."

Anyone have reccomendations on slipmats? I use the Butter Rugs with wax paper underneath. Once again have to give Qbert & Crew their props for a nice piece of equipment. I haven't found anything better for keeping the hands quick... But i'm open to suggestions.

I was curious to see if there are any cats in the NY area who are willing to come together sometime and sessioning/chilling... If so, post up your thoughts!

I need mixes to play continously in my store. The vibe changes, so we need a variety of mixes.
