In 2002, I failed at the arduous task of procuring a book agent for my first novel, No Room for Squares. My ego felt like it was on the Daniel LaRusso end of the ol' Cobra Kai - Sweep the leg maneuver. Instead of giving up, I self-published. My fears were put to rest when the novel was named a Finalist by the Independent Publisher Book Awards.

Check out the quotes on the back cover. I always mocked book quotes becasue they were falsely positive. To poke fun at the tradition, I did the opposite... to myself. That clever flip marked the beginning of my career as a copywriter.
