A Domain Name System (often referred to as a domain name or DNS, for short) is the address of your website. It's the root name that appears in a browser URL window (ex: limachips.com) and it's also used for email addresses. In order for a domain name to display your website, the DNS must be pointed at the server where the code files of your website reside.

Domain names can be purchased, and pointed, through companies like Network Solutions and Go Daddy. I recommend domain.com because it's cheap, reliable and the interface is easy to use. A domain name should cost about $10/year. If you're paying more, you're using the wrong registrar.

Never buy a domain name through a reseller. If your DNS expires and you can't get a hold of your reseller, it's a major hassle to resolve the situation.
